How we help you thrive with biologically-driven dentistry
While dentists may offer many similar services, how these services are performed can vary tremendously from office to office. At Timeless Dentistry in Forest Hills, New York, we are proud providers of biologically driven dental care. This distinction supports the most effective treatments, the best outcomes, and a pleasant dental experience.
What is biologically-driven dentistry?
“Biologically-driven” refers to a respect for natural or biological tissues and processes at work in your body. At the heart of this philosophy is the preservation of natural tissues, as well as exclusively using products and treatments that are highly compatible with these tissues.

What are some examples of biologically driven dentistry in action?
The basic tenets of biologically-driven dentistry include:
- A focus on whole-body wellness – We consider how our products, materials, techniques, and technologies can have ripple effects that affect the health of the rest of the body. We also perceive wellness through the lens of oral health and supporting one’s emotional and mental well-being. Consider, for example, how the appearance of your smile can take a toll on how you feel about yourself and your confidence when it is filled with numerous missing, broken, and otherwise visibly damaged teeth.
- Prevention and preservation are prioritized over intervention – Many oral conditions we treat can be prevented, and spotting them before they demand intervention often takes little more than a curious mind, a friendly ear, and an active eye. For all the advanced technologies that we’ve invested in, the critical link in every early diagnosis is taking the time and showing the care necessary to look carefully and really try to help our patients. In fact, for Dr. Paul Springs, Dr. Becca Baer, Dr. Samer Chahine, and Dr. Kevin Malakov, “drilling and filling” is a last resort. They use their knowledge and advanced technologies to detect and treat problems early on, before they cause damage and/or when they can be addressed with minimal tissue loss. We also focus on treating the underlying source of any damage or problems. This approach supports real treatment and lasting resolution of symptoms. Otherwise, when you merely treat the symptoms, the root cause of pain, swelling, and other issues will never truly be halted. These symptoms would then return because the ultimate cause was not treated in the first place.
- Minimally invasive dentistry—To protect your teeth from damage, only the most minimal techniques and adjustments are necessary to keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy. These less invasive techniques preserve maximum natural tooth structure and tissues and provide a more comfortable treatment experience. Invasive procedures generally remove more natural tissue and result in more post-treatment discomfort and longer healing times.
- Biocompatibility—True to the terminology, biocompatibility refers to how compatible dental materials and products are with biological or living tissues. Our dentists have carefully selected only the highest-quality materials that thrive within your body and also help you thrive as a person!

How can you help me through biologically-driven dentistry?
It all starts with a visit. During your appointment, we assess for anything that could put your mouth (and overall health) at risk. Since many dentists don’t take the time to teach their patients how to properly take care of their oral health, some common risk factors include inadequacies in brushing and flossing techniques and nutrition, and behaviors such as teeth grinding and smoking/vaping, and tobacco use. Depending on your unique needs, we can recommend and demonstrate adjustments to minimize those risk factors, and coach you over time to help you form the good habits that are needed to keep you healthy in the long term.
As you age, the loss of biological tissues in the mouth does not have to be a foregone conclusion. We have been here for 80 years, and we have patients in their nineties who have maintained all their teeth because of good habits and ongoing care. That’s our goal for every one of our patients. You can protect your teeth and other natural tissues for life by partnering with Timeless Dentistry in Forest Hills, NY. Call us at (718) 268-1561 to schedule your appointment today.
