Rebuilding smiles with speciality care, on-site capabilities that can’t be beat
Patients of Timeless Dentistry benefit from our combination of time-tested, quality care, considerable expertise, and sophisticated dental technologies that complement our care and expertise. Our Prosthodontist, Dr. Paul Springs, has advanced training and experience in a recognized speciality branch of dentistry: prosthodontics. This speciality area focuses on rebuilding teeth and other tissues and structures of the mouth, face, and jaws. Due to this level of skill, no need is too complex for our team in Forest Hills, New York. Even the most extensive complete mouth rehabilitation can be performed successfully and efficiently at our office.
Why would I need complete mouth rehabilitation?
No two treatment plans to rehabilitate the entire mouth are the same. However, we generally refer to combinations of treatments designed to restore the structure, function, and aesthetics of the teeth, gums, and jaw. You may undergo a series of treatments to resolve one or a combination of the following:
- Cavities and other forms of tooth decay
- Wear and tear caused by conditions like bruxism (teeth grinding)
- Gaps in the smile following tooth loss, extractions to remove irreparably damaged teeth
- Misaligned teeth and bite imbalances, such as overbite, crossbite, underbite, and open bite
- Gingival inflammation and infection (gum disease)
- Old, worn dental work and big fillings that are vulnerable to further damage
- Past treatments that did not respect the patient’s esthetic, functional, and biological health
- Disorders or dysfunction of the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) and orofacial pain

What treatments are associated with full-mouth reconstruction?
That depends on your needs and what we find following an evaluation at our office. Timeless Dentistry has spared no expense when it comes to investing in your care, including advanced training and diagnostic technologies. To make recommendations most appropriate to you, we must first understand your individual needs. These diagnostic processes help us accurately assess the condition of your teeth, gums, jaw joints, facial muscles, airways, and the soft tissues of your mouth. We use advanced technologies like three-dimensional facial scans and intraoral scans, digital X-rays and CT scans. These advanced imaging tools require zero to minimal radiation, so little that there is no competitor on the market, with a device that produces less radiation (https://www.planmeca.com/dental-imaging/cbct-machines/low-dose-imaging).
In fact, our protocols and equipment involve so little radiation that there is not even any value to using lead shielding, according to recent expert consensus publications from expert panels established by the American Dental Association Council on Scientific Affairs, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, and Medical physicists with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Even so, in the interest of the greatest possible safety, we still use all shielding protocols available on the market. And our equipment and protocols are not only the safest – thanks to the advanced image processing software that we’ve invested in, there’s also no competing device that can outdo the image quality they generate. Why does all this matter? Because it means that we can be confident that every recommendation we offer for your optimal oral health is based on a sound diagnosis and a solid understanding of how to rebuild your smile’s health, function, and appearance.
Does full-mouth reconstruction only involve restorative dentistry?
No. The short answer is that, until the patient rules out any particular treatment type, all options remain on the table. Our highest value in every treatment we consider is to provide a plan that addresses all your dental needs with the most stable and least costly treatment possible. But when we say “least costly,” that doesn’t always mean exactly what patients think it will. For example, the greatest cost that most patients overlook is their biologic cost. Every time we lose precious bone and tooth structure, that is a sacrifice of healthy support for your oral health that we cannot get back. That is why we use the most validated materials and techniques to make our treatments as minimally invasive as possible. Unfortunately, for centuries in dentistry, the need to simply grind away significant tooth structure, perform root canals for convenience, and undermine tooth structure with dental post restorations was considered normal and acceptable. But for the last 25 years, there has been no excuse to perform such amputative dentistry. Too many patients have learned the hard way that just because a result looks great, it does not mean that the underlying tooth structure is still strong and sturdy. When we speak of minimizing the biological cost, this is what we’re speaking of – protecting the resources for oral health that you can replace, but can never get back.
It’s with this goal in mind that we will always tailor our treatment plan recommendations to your individual goals and motivations, which is why complete rehabilitation services often include a mix of different types of treatment. For example, we’ve had many patients come to us requesting $30,000 of veneers to correct some discrepancies of tooth color and position only to have us show them that they can love their own natural smile every bit as much, for a fraction of the biological and financial cost, with far more long-term stability by having no more treatment than simply clear aligners and tooth whitening. Even when tooth shapes, shades, and positions are more compromised, orthodontics and whitening are two wonderful first steps for both restorative and cosmetic dental procedures, because in general, beginning with the teeth in the optimal position and with an optimal shade means we can save more tooth and bone structure, For example, you may want veneers in order to restore worn down and discolored teeth, but if we first position your teeth slightly further back under your lip, create slight spacing between them, and lighten their color, we can now perform minimally-invasive veneers, a treatment that doesn’t even require anesthesia, because no significant tooth structure needs to be changed.
This type of treatment may be combined with restorations such as crowns and bridges for teeth with decay or structural problems, especially for those with old, broken restorations, such as fillings, crowns, and bridges. Many patients prefer to make these restorations in a lighter shade, and then whiten the remaining natural teeth with our powerful, professional whitening gels. That way, the smile looks uniform and gets a dazzling “upgrade.” For more information about how we make our crowns and bridges in a way that makes your teeth last longer, and about why any one crown is not the same as any other, please see our section on Minimally Invasive Dentistry
Additionally, our restorative treatments always have some component of cosmetic dentistry to them. Take, for instance, how clear aligner therapy is an orthodontic treatment for straightening teeth and correcting the bite. However, since the aligners are clear, treatment is discreet – no silver metal brackets or wires marring your smile during treatment! Not only that, but clear aligners are the perfect carrier for our extremely effective whitening gels. In fact, everything we do is an aesthetic treatment. It’s not just veneers – our filings, crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, and more are also designed to the highest standards of quality and precision by our in-house lab technicians, who came to us after running the most technologically-advanced dental lab in the state.
